Jo Malone London High Tea

Event season is in full effect and my calendar is filling up. If you are a regular around these parts you’ll know that Jo Malone London is and has been one of my favourite brands for a long time and while I was in the United States, I received an invitation to join them for a High Tea. Say less, “I’ll be there, upon my return.” was my RSVP.

I can’t take full credit for my love of the brand, because it was my mother that introduced me to the quintessentially British cosmetics company. And you’ll never forget the first time that you experience the scent and the luxury that is Jo Malone. Many many years ago, I was visiting my parents in my childhood home, and my mother demanded I wash my hands before we broke bread. In the guest bathroom, I was the Pomegranate Noir hand soap in a, now discontinued, branded dish. After lathering up and applying the lotion with the same scent - I could not stop smelling my hands. And that’s the magic of the brand because the moment that you have your first interaction, there’s no turning back.

National Education Executive, Malinda Fredericks

So, being invited to another High Tea from the brand feels full circle. As National Education Executive Malinda Fredericks expresses, “There is nothing like a Jo Malone hand and arm massage.” And she’s right. If there is one thing you take away from this article, is to go into Hyde Park Shopping Centre and book your hand and arm massage.

On to the Jo Malone High Tea, which was everything and then some. I put the address into my Uber however I was not familiar with this venue - and I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving. This chateau is an oasis in the middle of Randburg. And the venue was transformed to show us the splendour that is Jo Malone London. Your favourites were there including Lerato Kgamanyane, Boitumelo Nxumalo & Khayisile Odigeng (Khay Republik) to name a few. The mimosas were flowing while the signature scented candle Lime Basil Mandrin permeated the space.

As the light bites were served along with a selection of teas, we learned the great aspects of the brand - how to take care of your candle, scenting your home, fragrance combining, the art of gifting and scenting your special occasion (which I never knew we could do here in this country).

Spending time with candles, fragrances and all the wonderful guests made me feel calm, relaxed and happy to be home. Do yourself a favour and go to the store in Hyde Park and just indulge in everything that is on offer. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
